Interview with Author Janae
What inspired you to come up with the idea for your book?
The Witches Prophecy started out as a thriller name The Lady of Death. When I write I tend to overwrite and get anxious. Before I gave it to a beta reader, and he convinced me to cut everything out, but I was unsatisfied. I decided to start from scratch, and I always wanted to write a fantasy. I used the same characters with a new storyline. I love witches. Most of my books are about witches but this was the mother of them. Trouble was already an assassin and I thought the combination was boss.
Any challenges in writing this book?
Yes. I had to rewrite the whole thing in a matter of 6 months. That meant outlining, writing, rewriting and editing. I did it that fast not because of a deadline or anything but because I was tired of looking at it. Lol. I love my characters and I had sat on their story for two years prior. I thought about publishing traditionally but they usually don’t like series from debut novels and I just wanted it out there so I could work on something else.
What do you love most about writing?
What I love is coming up with the concept and outlining the book. Yes the preplanning. Now don’t get me wrong, coming up with the worlds is second best. I like creating some things and having modern things mixed as doing one of everything would be too exhausting.
How do you go about choosing the names for your characters?
I like to go to baby naming sites. Sometimes I will come up with words and look up synonyms for the words. Sometimes I use pieces of words or foreign names. If I use a “normal” name I tried to go crazy with the last name. Then I search online for people named that. I search Facebook, Instagram, the Internet. I don’t want to get sue.
What other books have you written?
I have started another serial series called the Lunar Prophecy Series. So far I have written Book One, Bound by the Blood Moon and Book Two Eclipse of Fate. Right now I am also working on another serial series about a witch going to magical school (college.) All of my books are romance adventures. This next book should be coming out before the end of January. It’s called Dawn of Destiny. I have also written book two of The Witches Prophecy.
